Still remember the One Laptop Per Child — or a $100 Laptop? It was only load with Red Hat’s Fedora Core 6 from Linux; and now, Microsoft Windows XP kicked in.

I don’t know who requested this combination on the first place, but it looks like Windows is trying to give a very affordable, user friendly, and kind of images… either that, or it’s just plainly “Cheap”

No offense.

However, it’s not like XP will completely dominating this laptop. It will comes with dual-boot, linux + Windows, and let users decide which one is better for them.

Since it’s Windows, it demands a lot of thing (of course). Microsoft spent over a year to developing the driver compatibility for OLPC OX features like e-book, writing pad and camera. Also, since it’s WINDOWS (again), the previous 1 GB SSD storage is surely not enough. So, next month, it will be public with 2 GB SSD pre-loaded.

Hehe, looks like this laptop loses its vision, from the charity kind of laptop, into the commercial. Who’s to blame?

And do you think the price will stays at $100 ?
