EEE_PC_901_vs_Aspire_one

Last week when I went to BestBuy (grabbing my new soundcard), I saw EEE PC 901 with Aspire One on the same rack. No, the picture above is not mine — what I saw was both machines ran on XP =).

I tried the Acer Aspire One first — and well, typical, there were so many junks. Nasty programs and pack of icons on system tray. Same shits on EEE PC as well.

The Aspire One got 80HDD, while the EEE PC was using 12GB SSD. I’m not going to write about the specs wise but overall quality.

Speed

I’m not sure it’s the setting, junks and garbage that causing it, but Aspire One, which was running on Atom 1.6GHz, feels slower than EEE PC which was still on Celeron 900MHz. I tried to open several programs, and browsing the web, EEE PC feels more alive.

Screen

EEE PC wins. It’s more clear, brighter, sharp and it has integrated webcam (0.3 MP). I tried to captured myself using the webcam, and it’s pretty good.

Keyboards

Aspire One wins. The keyboards on EEE PC are cramped somehow. With bare eyes, I can’t really say it’s different in size, except for the shift and enter buttons. But once I laid my fingers on it, I could feel it — it’s smaller. Aspire’s keyboards also more responsive, and more comfortable to type on.

TouchPad

Needless to say, EEE PC’s bigger, smoother and it has Multi-Touch technology <3

Battery

Can’t really say, but officially it’s written that the new EEE PC with 6-cells will achieve up to 6-7 hours of battery life. I don’t know how well it is, also for 6-cells on Aspire, in real-life use.

Price

Vary, depends on your specs, but Bestbuy got a reasonable price as well.

I haven’t seen the 1000H one, which I hope it will gives a liiiitle bit more space for the keyboards to grow, but overall I’m still heart EEE PC <3.
