iriver lplayer

It’s kind of new MP3 player from iRiver, the LPlayer Series. It’s pretty small in size, with 2.36 x 1.69 x 0.51 inches dimension, which make it looks like rather thick.

Maintains the “button-less” style from the previous iRiver Clix series, this LPlayer also comes with touch screen navigation system. The screen is 2″ diagonally, with 320 x 240 pixel resolution. Quite small, yes, but that’s what you get for such a tiny PMP.

Here’s the side-by-side comparison with… Dr.Pepper?

I know Dr. Pepper can’t sing play musics, but at least he has size. LPlayer have 2 models, 4GB ($110) and 8GB ($160), which practically cheaper than average PMPs price.

It does look so thick doesn’t it?

Even the screen is tiny, it has a decent brightness. The video plays fine, even it’s only support WMV, Xvid, and MPEG-4. No AVI support is the worse thing for everything in my opinion, since that’s the most common format floating all around the torrent Internet.

The audio, supports MP3, WMA, Flac and OGG. No AAC, but those 4 main formats are served it well already; and for picture support, is better than most of PMPs have — it’s compatible with JPG, GIF, PNG and BMP.

The User Interface, is pretty much confusing at the first time, either to locate where it is, and also envolving with how you suppose to poke the screen; for instance, to accessing the music settings, EQ custom setting, we have to holding down the entire screen for a few seconds. Of course, once you get used to it, all will be easy.

The audio quality is pretty good, but it depends on the earphone as well. The included earphones is a crap. Get another earphones, which will give the best result. The bass-boost from equalizer is noticeable and not distorting.

Battery life, which officially claimed for 12 hours, somehow it survived up to 16 hours for music playback. It also does voice recording, and FM tuner (recording). Pretty good vide-audio player overall.
